KCMT is pioneer in bringing Biotechnology course in Bareilly region. It’s the only college running B.Sc Biotechnology course. BIOTECHNOLOGY concerns with the exploitation of biological agents or their components for generating useful products or services. The area covered under biotechnology is very vast and the techniques involved are highly divergent. Biotechnology is the integrated use of biochemistry, microbiology and engineering science in order to achieve technological application of the capabilities of microorganisms, cultured tissue or cell and parts thereof. Biotechnology comprises mainly of two features:-
1. Utilization of biological entities such as microorganisms, cells of higher organisms.
2. Using above generation of some useful products or services, which directly or indirectly prove beneficial to humans and works for their welfare. The processes of biotechnology are essentially used in medicine, food science and agriculture around the world. For instance, a biotechnology allows a person to make use of living organism to manufacture stuff like milk products and beer.
Today the essence of biotechnology is most prominent in the field of genetic researches and drug designing. However, it is being effectively being used for conservation of natural resources and developing newer sources of alternative energy as well.
At KCMT, committed faculty members help in providing the students with all necessary guidance to make them well versed with the subject and they get deep insight of it besides effective teaching methodologies, through various Educational tours which are begin arranged such as G.B. Pant University of Agri. & Tech., PantNagar, IVRI, Bareilly, Institute of Sugarcane Research, Shahjahanpur; etc. It is one of the most preferred professional courses chosen by students after completion of school. Students who have studied the science stream in the 10+2 level of school can opt for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in biotechnology. The postgraduate courses in biotechnology like M.Sc and M.Tech can also be pursued after completing graduation in Biotechnology. A student can also opt for Ph.D courses and post doctoral studies in biotechnology from educational institutes in India. Today, the career opportunities for a biotechnologist are lucrative. Every organization which employs engineers and biologists also has positions for biotechnologists.
