Khandelwal College of Architecture & Design had a modest beginning in year 2009, duly affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow and governed by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi. Located along the Bareilly – Philibhit Highway, the college has a self-sufficient campus dedicated towards the all-round development of academics and extra circular activities of the prospective students. The infrastructure of Khandelwal College has ample number of design studios, and lecture rooms for providing theoretical studies, computer labs along with a library full of national and International journals. Since 2009, Khandelwal College has proudly given 4 batches of fresh architects who are making a meaningful contribution to the society.
Architects of the emerging India need to play a significant role in shaping and designing our build environments. Architects are catalyst of a socially inclusive community living catering to the demands of sustainable society creating living working and recreational spaces. Thus, Architects are the leaders of new and Vibrant India. When imparting this leadership role, it is must for an architect to understand the value of spaces and functions considering the economical and energy effective qualities of buildings and places.
Professional architects can carve out independent careers as practicing architects or could work with governmental organization, with architectural firms, or as leading young academicians focused on teaching & research.
This is a five year course taught at Khandelwal College of Architecture & Design, with first year as foundation course taught by faculties having expertise in Architectural design and construction. The focus here is to develop students understanding towards basic architectural drawings and understanding. Following years were imparted to enhance students advanced skills in architectural design. Fourth and final years were dedicated to learning professional practices and skills undergoing 6 months internships. The final year demand students to put their academic studies into a dedicated thesis projects. The teaching methodology compromises of architectural studios, site visits, educational trips and design competitions.
Architecture has been a genre from ancient ages, an art of design and construction has undergone drastic transformations since the human settlement age begins. Teaching such a dynamic stream demands the faculties to be innovative in methodology while aiming to sharpen the student’s perception and understanding of notions and paradigms. We, at Khandelwal college of Architecture and Design motivates every faculty to create a bond of trust and mutual understanding with the every individual students, this has been achieved through informal talks and working on various architectural competitions outside the paradigm of academic syllabus.
Architecture pedagogy is more of a creative problem solving, the designing issue proposes due to smearing and getting involved student with designing process. In this regard, cause to importance of how to follow the path by the student as an amateur designer, proposing of designing issue demands some factors that besides defining and clearing the issue, provide the possibility of creative thinking of amateur designer and guide the process of problem solving in efficient path.
For admission to first year of B. Arch., a candidate must have clearly passed intermediate examination of U. P. Board or 10 + 2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University and securing (i) minimum 50% marks in aggregate and (ii) clearly passed without grace, each compulsory and optional subjects as given below

A candidate possessing three years Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central / State Govt., is also eligible for admission to first year of B. Arch. only, and provided the candidate has passed the Diploma examination securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate without grace.

The institute is a participant in SEE DR. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. All the students who have appeared in the NATA/UPSEE A.K.T.U examinations are eligible to be considered for admission.
"Bamboo Log" is a theme of National level design competition organized by INHAF (A national level group of NGOs and professionals working on Human Settlements) & URAVA (Kerala Based NGO working on Bamboo Ecology, economy, & Community).
The concept of group housing or collective housing, where homes share land and community facilities and are built together to standard designs through a single agency, has its beginning in contemporary India during the first quarter of 19thcentury. The Present studio aims at creating sustainable housing solution for a 5 acre site located in Bareilly.

The city is a living organism- with a unique culture and a past called a “contextual history” and a future in which new buildings act as the threads that weave the cities living traditions into new and whole fabric. Architecture projects need to be perceived as part of implementing an urban design project which entails gathering insights into urban fabric and how people use urban spaces.
National Association of Students of Architecture, briefly designated as NASA India, is a student association, one of its kind for the undergraduate students of Architecture in India.It was established in 1957 (13 September 1957) with seven colleges with a common aim and objective to provide the students a platform for interaction, a platform where students from varied cultural backgrounds would learn and share their knowledge. NASA India now includes students of over 240 colleges from across the country, divided geographically into six zones. NASA India is a non-profit and non-political association registered under the Society's Act 1860 vide no. 24786 as applicable to the National Capital Territory of New Delhi, India. NASA India has its headquarters currently located at the Department of Architecture, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

In order to impart quality education to the students, Khandelwal college of Architecture & Design, Bareilly organizes external juries where noted academicians and famous architects from region were invited. KCAD shares a strong bond with the architecture fraternity around the region. Thesis Juries were conducted by practicing architects and academicians along the studio work carried out by students every semester.
The travelling is a journey that brings the exposure of new people and their habitat. Architecture is incomplete without learning while we travel; hence architects are vivid travelers, ready to fly away to new places, new buildings, new food and lots of visual treat to architecture students learning from the live examples. Hence, travelling is a part and parcel of architecture student. Keeping in line with the Council of Architecture program to ensure that architecture students gain practical experience of visiting new places and buildings, Khandelwal college of Architecture organizes various educational trips to different parts of India and abroad as well.
The trip of Tamil Nadu and Kerala was a part of Urban Study specifically studying “Life and Architecture of Auroville” conducted between 28th Jan 2017 to 30 Jan 2017. 11 students from B. Arch fourth year visited various cities of Tamil Nadu and Kerala state.

The output of the trip and in particular the study of life and architecture of the Auroville presented in the college on the 6th March 2017. A video presentation consisting the interviews and series of discussion with the Aurovillans in order to understand the life, economy, employment and other city factors associated with the International Township is presented. Along with the video, students visited 16 buildings in Auroville that were presented as sheet work to the jury panel consisting of Ar. WaseemAkhtar and Ar. AlokShrivastava, respected Director of our college.
To understand architecture one must be a will full traveler. Travelling provides a new epitome of understanding the peoples and places. Cultural interrelations with the spaces are best studied while one travels through a unique cultural zone. An Unforgettable Trip of 1st Year and 2nd Year students to Cultural region of M.P & U.P. The trip aims to develop an understanding of cultural spaces and places of historical and heritage value. Various modern architectural marvels designed by famous architect of India were visited by students accompanied by design faculties yielded a fruitful trip.
The 3rd students undertook the voyage of 10 days to Rajasthan and Gujarat focused on visiting the some of the best monuments of Rajputana Architecture and Modern marvels of Ahmadabad. The trip to CEPT was the most unforgettable memory that left a string imprint on the minds of young architecture students.
Although in the beginning of your career you would be expected to understand the practical aspects of being on the job and strike the right balance of listening to the client and coming out with a design both aesthetically and practically correct. You will have the option of working with construction companies, builders, independently, consultancies, and many other options as well.
There are also jobs available in the Public sector which will include departments such as National Institute of Urban Affairs, Public Works Department, Housing and Urban Development Corporation, Ministry of Defense, National Building Organization, Archaeological Department, Town and Country Planning Organization, Departments of Railways, Post and Telegraphs, Public Sector Undertakings, National Building Construction Corporation Ltd., etc.
In the beginning an architect can expect as much as Rs. 20,000 at the minimum. In about four to five years, expect anything from INR 50,000 to 60,000 and above.
